Welcome to
Nightmagic
Not a Professional Breeder
A Passionate Hobbyist
Why That Matters for You — and Our Cats
At NightMagic Cattery, we proudly call ourselves hobby breeders, not professionals — and that distinction makes all the difference.
What’s the Difference
Breeding is not our job — it’s our passion.
-
We don’t breed cats for income. We breed because we love the Devon Rex breed and want to responsibly contribute to its future.
Our cats are family — not business assets.
-
They live in our home, sleep on our beds, and are loved as pets first and always. They are never treated as products or employees.
Ethics over profit.
-
Because we do not rely on kittens for financial stability, we never compromise their well-being. There is no pressure to overbreed, cut corners, or make choices that put our animals at risk. We don’t breed just for rare colors or flashy traits. Our focus is always on health, temperament, and preserving the integrity of the breed — not on what might sell for more.
Peace of mind for you.
-
As a potential kitten owner, you can rest assured knowing your kitten was born and raised in a safe, loving, home environment — not a facility focused on numbers.
-
Breeding with heart, not for profit.
That’s what sets us apart.
How we got started
About NightMagic Cattery
Established 2005 | TICA & CFA Registered |
Formally from New York - Now in Central Alberta, Canada
My journey into the world of breeding and showing cats began before I could even walk. My mother was a passionate cat breeder long before I was born, so I grew up immersed in the Cat Fancy world — surrounded by the sights, sounds, and heart of cat shows, breeding programs, and rescue work.
As a child, I worked side by side with my mother and her cattery, learning the ins and outs of responsible breeding. Eventually, I chose to carve out my own path in the feline world — and Night Magic Cattery was born in 2005, originally focusing on the elegant Somali breed.
A Devon Destiny
While attending college to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician and pursue my BA in Veterinary Management, someone asked me,
"If you could choose any breed to work with, what would it be?"
That question sparked a vivid memory: I was 7 years old at a cat show when I met a tiny Devon Rex kitten — the only Devon I had ever seen, but one that made a lasting impression. I had seen hundreds of breeds in my young life, but that one kitten never left my heart.
In 2009, I followed that memory and acquired my very first Devon Rex from Katzisland Cattery. I’m forever grateful to Katzisland and the other incredible breeders who welcomed and mentored me in the Devon Rex world.
Home Raised, With Love
We are now proudly located in Central Alberta, Canada.
Our Devons are raised in a true home environment — sharing space with our family, a gentle Doberman, and a pair of spirited Brussels Griffons. This gives our kittens daily exposure to a household setting and dog companions, resulting in well-socialized, confident cats.
Yes, our Devons are bed hoggers. And yes — they are our pets first and always.
